Robert French

Robert French is a graduating Film and Television university student, whose love of movie making started with him making films with his father’s camera on their farm; ideas and execution have always been unconventional. With no idea ever being too far-fetched and a desire to be in the action when shooting, his passion for producing films unsurprisingly saw him want to study it further after finishing his HSC in 2006.
During his 3 years of study, Robert has undertaken a number of different productions, in different roles. These included producing a documentary on the decline of the church, music videos, Short films including narrative and experimental, Outside broadcast of an awards night, motion graphics sequences and his major project for graduation being a pilot television show looking at and reviewing Australian short films and interviewing the directors, the aim being to raise the profile of short films made in this country and exposing the up-and-coming talent in the Australian film industry.
He has also competed in the 2008 Newcastle “Shoot-out” short film competition; a 24 hour competition where each 7 minute film must be shot in a linear fashion with no editing allowed. Robert’s entry film follows a day in the life of a teenager who rides an imaginary bike around, all the while his parents are confused as to what to do.
Robert’s most recent work has seen him as the Director of Photography for the Award winning short film “RUN”, a zombie film for the Scream screen competition as part of Newcastle’s ‘This is not Art’ festival 2009.
